On March 15, 2010 at 8:30 am I called [HomeServe USA] for sewer service. At 10:48 am I received a call from the owner of a local plumber. By 12:40 the plumbers were here unstopping the drain in the back of my basement. Around 2:30 they had unclogged the drain and all was well. I have to say they not only unclogged the drain, they made sure that it was clear. They ran the snake through the line three times. As a matter of fact, there was a machine broken, they had to take the machine outside and take it apart and put it back together and come back to make sure all was clear. In my opinion, a plumber is like a doctor except they make house calls. But the fee is that same $300 per visit. But because I have [HomeServe USA], my service was all a part of my $95 for the entire year of service. I am a very satisfied customer and this is a service that everyone should take advantage of. It would be a lifetime mistake if you don’t. I will keep [HomeServe USA] as long as I remain living in this house, and I have been here all of my life.

Our water heater stopped working on a Friday. Needless to say we did not want to take another cold shower, or go the weekend without hot water. Contrary to your homeowners insurance, this company actually goes out of their way to help you with the problem you are reporting. If the reported problem does not fall under their coverage, they will still offer helpful tips and give you the name of a local plumber you can call. [HomeServe USA] has been to my home at least 3 times since 2008:

  • A huge pipe in the wall of my basement burst, this was covered 100%
  • The shut-off valve for the water also malfunctioned and water was all over my basement floor. This was also covered 100%.
  • My water bill was extremely high for several months in a row. I called [my utility] to report a problem with my bill, only to find out that their meter readings were accurate. I then called [HomeServe USA] and explained the problem to them. They sent an experienced plumber to my home who quickly diagnosed the problem for me. Again, 100% covered.

After calling [HomeServe USA], a plumber will call you back. I never had to wait more than 1 hour for this call. The plumber, who is always courteous and professional, will supply you with an ETA. They’ve never missed their window, these people are very punctual, a relief for those who need to work for a living and cannot afford to stay home all hours waiting for service. And to top it off, they clean up when they’re done. Love these people!
