Eligibility: An owner of a residential single structure, or a unit within a structure, that is not intended to be moved may be eligible for coverage. This includes single family homes (inclusive of manufactured housing), townhomes and apartments. An owner of a single residential structure that includes multiple units may also be eligible. If you own a multifamily residence, you must provide the specific unit mailing address for each service agreement you purchase. Recreational vehicles and properties used for commercial purposes are not eligible. Your property is not eligible if you are aware of any pre-existing conditions, defects or deficiencies with your cooling system prior to enrollment, or if you have a cooling system that uses refrigerant other than R-22 or similar, R-410a or has non-compliant components, or is a capacity exceeding five tons; ammonia cooling, window, through the wall, hanging, geothermal heat pump or combination ambient heat/domestic hot water heating unit, If your entire cooling system is shared with any third party or covered by a homeowners', condominium or like association, or is not installed according to manufacturer specifications, then you are not eligible.
Benefit Details: Coverage provides, up to the benefit amount, for the covered cost to repair or replace the following electric central air conditioning system parts, for which you have sole responsibility, that are damaged due to normal wear and tear, not accident or negligence: capacitors; circuit boards and internal fuses or breakers; condensate pumps; condenser motor and fan; contactor switches; delay timer; fan controls and relays; filter dryer; high and low pressure switches; limit controls; up to one pound of refrigerant (excluding maintenance recharges which are not covered); relays; transformers and valves. In addition, we will perform one annual 18 point tune-up of your heat pump/cooling system, including: check thermostat operation; clean filter or replace (customer supplied); check system temperature split; inspect disconnect; inspect fuses; inspect wiring; tighten electrical connections; inspect contactors, relays and pressure controls; inspect electrical safety circuits; check voltage and amperage to all motors; inspect indoor blower and motor for dirt buildup; inspect bearings and lubricate all moving parts (if needed); inspect condensate drain; inspect outdoor coil; inspect duct seal at unit and secure panels; run and test system; interior coil cleaning; exterior coil cleaning.
Not covered: Air ducts, A/C coils, registers, grills, asbestos coverings, balancing of system, wiring and parts external to the unit, compressors or chillers, condenser casings, condenser coils, evaporator coils, metering systems/TXV valves, thermostats or thermostat wiring; and damage from accidents, negligence or otherwise caused by you, others or unusual circumstances. Making a Service Call: Your plan starts the day your order is processed, and there is an initial 30-day waiting period before you can make a service call, giving you 11 months of coverage during the first year. Upon renewal/reactivation (if applicable), you will not be subject to a waiting period.
Cancellation: You may cancel within 30 days of your start date for a full refund (or less any claims paid if cancelled at any time after renewal/reactivation, where applicable). Cancellations after the first 30 days will be effective at the end of the then-current billing month, and you will be entitled to a pro-rata refund less any claims paid (where applicable).
Renewal: Your coverage is based on an annual contract and is billed on a monthly basis through your utility bill, described as Water Protection Plan. Your service agreement will be automatically renewed annually on the same payment terms selected at the then-current renewal price. Most basic homeowners insurance policies and local utility companies or municipalities do not cover repairs to or replacement of the major systems in and around your home.
What is the cancellation policy?
You may cancel within 30 days of your start date for a full refund; cancellations after the first 30 days will result in a pro rata refund less any claims paid (where applicable). Most basic homeowners insurance policies do not cover repair or replacement due to normal wear and tear of these components. If you find you have similar protection, you can contact HomeServe to cancel and you will receive a refund of your service agreement fee, less any claims paid (where applicable).
When can I make a service call?
Your plan starts 30 days after your order is processed. You can make a service call immediately after your plan starts. During the initial 30-day waiting period you will receive the Terms and Conditions to help you decide if coverage is right for you.
